Weekend Survival Kits

WSK merging with GLFB

Dear Weekend Survival Kits Supporter,

As of July 1, Weekend Survival Kits (WSK) is pleased to announce we have transferred ownership and leadership of the WSK Backpack Program to Greater Lansing Food Bank (GLFB) after 12 years of partnership. GLFB’s team will bring a new set of resources and an expanded seven-county service area to the program, which will help WSK continue to strengthen our community by getting more food to more kids.

Thank you for your support of the WSK Backpack Program. Your time and investment in our work has helped nourish children throughout mid-Michigan.

WSK staff is working closely with GLFB throughout this transition to ensure the stability of programing and continuity of service, and the transition will be complete ahead of the 2023/2024 school year to ensure no disruption to schools.

As part of this transition, all existing WSK funds will be transferred to GLFB and designated solely for use for the WSK Backpack Program. Additionally, GLFB is eager to welcome WSK volunteers to continue championing the program’s efforts to fight childhood food insecurity in partnership with GLFB.

If you have questions about this transition, contact Kelly Miller, GLFB’s director of philanthropy, at kelly@glfoodbank.org or (517) 853-7819.

Sincerely,

Jeff Gorsline
