Mobilizes communities to provide food on the weekends to children
Volunteer with Weekend Survival Kits! Volunteers are important to the smooth operation of the Weekend Survival Kits program. During the school year there are currently seven locations across our service area designated for usually twice monthly packing sessions. The Packing Kit session volunteer activities are great for team building for businesses or community groups, individuals, family or friends. There are assignments at the Packing sessions for people of all ages and ability. With enough volunteers the volunteer session will be anywhere from 90 minutes to 2 hours. Other volunteers acting as School Liaisons and Delivery Team members step in after the kits are packed and staged for pick-up to distribute to the schools they support.
Throughout the whole year there may be periodic opportunities to volunteer as support for one of our Special Events such as our signature WSK Race Series, the Taste of Williamston or other fundraising events. And, if you have Special Skills such as organizing, computer skills, marketing, design, or photography – we’d love to talk with you!
Use the Volunteer Sign-Up form on this page to express your interest and availability. We will use that information to strategically reach out to you for help based on the information you share. If you are new to Volunteering with Weekend Survival Kits be sure to click on the link to complete the Photo and Liability Release form. If you have signed the release form already, thank you! We have it on file.
Last, and most important, we have a special form for you to track your own volunteer activity. It will take just a few minutes and will help us quantify your support for the Weekend Survival Kits. This is all part of our plan to make your volunteer experience a great one!
