Special Surprise in Weekend Survival Kits for the Holiday
Thanks to some wonderful volunteers and supporters the food kits going out to the schools just before the holiday break will include a very special treat for the kids and a little something extra for their parents. We had an extra packing session last week to put together a sweet surprise for the children. In addition to the regular food items, each kit will include a paper lunch bag with pop tarts, hot chocolate AND some holiday stickers and a fidget key chain! The kids can’t miss it because it has a fun sticker seal with a silly snowman face. For the parents, we are including a box of stuffing mix.
The special treat for 2,400 holiday gifts was made possible by Homegrown Lansing who covered the cost of the stuffing, the bags, the hot chocolate and the fun toys, and PS Food Mart who supplied the Pop Tarts.
Additionally, for our high school recipients, local fast-food sponsors supplied coupons for a Free Shake from Arby’s, a Free Meal from Chik-Fil-A, and a Free Meal from Culvers. And Dr. Palmer supplied toothbrushes and toothpaste!
Thank you to all the volunteers and donors who made this gift possible! We know the children will be very excited to receive it.
