Weekend Survival Kits

Feeding Hungry Kids – A Good Investment

At Weekend Survival Kits our success comes from the support we receive from the communities we serve.  Many businesses have found that making Weekend Survival Kits the target of their volunteer and giving strategy is a good investment. Learn how feeding hungry kids is a good investment.

Businesses like our partners:  Jackson National Life, Delta Dental, Michigan State University Federal Credit Union, Northwest Initiative, SodexoMAGIC, Emergent BioSolutions, 242 Community Church, and Allegra Marketing. Plus area service clubs like Rotary, Kiwanis, and Junior League…and many more have recognized the importance of our mission and wish to make a commitment to Giving Hope to Hungry Kids!

If your business is searching for that “feel-good” opportunity to do some hands-on service, volunteering at one of our regular weekend food kit packing sessions is a great opportunity.  To learn more about upcoming packing sessions and how your business or service club can volunteer, please reach out to Gina@weekendsurvivalkits.org – especially if you are thinking of bringing a group with 10 or more people.  You will find a list of packing events and calendars which cover the whole school year on the home page of our website  www.weekendsurvivalkits.org

Even if your business can’t come out to one of our regularly scheduled packing events, Weekend Survival Kits would be honored to be the beneficiary of a company-sponsored fund-raising event. If you have an existing fund-raiser such as a Casual Friday campaign, or an Annual Outing such as a Golf Event, we would be pleased to supply flyers and information to support your fund-raising efforts on our behalf. To learn more: Contact Jillaine@weekendsurvivalkits.org

Or, if your business or team wants to take on a physical challenge, our annual signature event – The Weekend Survival Kits Race Series could work.  You can volunteer or field a team to run/compete in our professional timed races (5K, 10K, and 5K Gone Bad – the Crossfit/Running Challenge Course). There is also a Fun-Run and special Kid’s Run.  The 2019 Race is on the books for Saturday, September 14th, 2019 and you can sign-up to Run, Volunteer, or Sponsor. Watch our Facebook page for events.  To inquire about sponsorship opportunities email Cami@weekendsurvivalkits.org

Back to the Good Investment

When you help Weekend Survival Kits to cover the cost of food for the weekend food kits, you are investing in the future and academic success of thousands of elementary school kids. Your investment in your local school districts (Yes, there are hungry kids in even the wealthiest school districts) or even those not so close to you, that investment can make a huge difference.

Perhaps that is why some organizations such as Delta Dental, Jackson National, and Emergent BioSolutions have made significant and lasting commitments to our mission. For example, Emergent BioSolutions has chosen to support an elementary school closest to their home-base – and has their own internal coordinator who sets up onsite packing sessions and delivery twice a month for their employees. Their focus is just for their local school and is executed and coordinated entirely by Emergent team members.  Equally inspiring is the commitment that Doug and Alison Kahl have personally made to 5 schools in their community. Not only do the Kahls lead by example, Doug also serves on our Board of Directors.

Many service clubs have also had a hand in growing the Weekend Survival Kits. Most service clubs, made up of business owners and community leaders, find that supporting a kid-focused charity resonates with their commitment to community vitality. Weekend Survival Kits is happy to come to your service club to tell stories of need and success and to outline ways your service club can help local school kids.

Make that good investment now – Weekend Survival Kits is growing, and more schools being added will mean more kids will need your help!  Visit our Donate page to make an immediate gift.
